The GETTR app, widely recognized as Trump's social platform, was launched on the Google Play Store and gained rapid popularity among users after former U.S. President Donald Trump announced the release of the GETTR application.
The core concept behind GETTR is to build a new social networking platform capable of competing directly with Twitter. According to the app's official "About" description, GETTR is designed as a marketplace of ideas where users can share thoughts and posts freely without fear of censorship. Additionally, GETTR stands out by encouraging users to express their opinions across various political, religious, and scientific matters, in contrast to the user policies of mainstream social networks that often restrict controversial discussions.
The announcement of GETTR followed the suspension of former U.S. President Donald Trump's accounts across major social platforms including Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
Trump's team stated that GETTR focuses on countering account ban policies, fostering an environment of intellectual freedom and free expression regardless of whether the topics under discussion involve political, religious, or scientific subjects.
Jason Miller, former spokesperson for Donald Trump and the lead behind launching GETTR, indicated that Trump would likely create an official profile on the platform.
Why Facebook and Twitter Suspended Trump's Accounts
As previously noted, former U.S. President Donald Trump faced account suspensions across major platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The account suspensions resulted from direct allegations that his public statements encouraged supporters prior to the Capitol incident.
Trump historically maintained massive social media followings across major platforms, exerting significant influence over millions of followers and supporters.
Following these events, Trump supporters and users worldwide turned to downloading and using GETTR, describing it as an alternative platform offering open expression and free speech without enforced constraints.
